Please refer to the Spring 2017 Core Schedule and look carefully at the dates for Ethics, CMG workshops and finals. NOTE: evening core classes still meet on Monday and Tuesday during the week of Spring Break (March 27-30).

Course Materials

EW203.31B & 32B – TBD

EW207.1B & 2B – reader only (will be available on study.net)

EW207.31B & 32B – reader only (will be available on study.net)

There are 5 class meetings for Blue and Gold and 4 class meetings for Axe and Oski (equating to the same total instructional hours). Dates are on the Spring 2017 Core Schedule.

Attendance is required. This is due to less instructional hours (15 total) for a 1-unit class. The attendance policy will also be reflected in the course syllabus.

Career Readiness Workshops Offered by CMG

Please refer to the email sent on February 17 from careers@haas.berkeley.edu (CMG) with the subject “Monthly Career News: New Career Workshops Just Launched” under the section Brand New Workshops.

As part of your first year core schedule, we’ve set aside time for you to attend these workshops. You’ll probably want to attend the sessions offered on your regular class day, but if it’s more convenient for you, you can select any of the sessions.

What will you learn? In this two-part series, you’ll walk away with valuable career tools to help you explore, strategize and accomplish your career goals.

1st Year Small Group Advising

Next month the academic advisors will lead small group advising sessions. Our agenda will touch on summer classes and the Fall 2017 elective sign up process. Dinner (or lunch) will be provided.

Wednesday, April 12: 7:30 – 8:15 PM (during the dinner break)

Thursday, April 13: 7:30 – 8:15 PM (during the dinner break)

Saturday, April 15: 1:15 – 2:00 PM (during the lunch break)

Summer Classes

The summer elective schedule will be released the week of March 6. Most courses will be open to the Class of 2019. A webinar will be held on March 13 from 12:00 – 1:00 PM to go over the summer elective sign up process. For all important dates and deadlines, please reference the Registration Timeline.

Fall Core Calendar

Dates for the 2017-2018 academic year are still being finalized. For planning purposes, the start of the Fall 2017 semester will be the week of July 31 for Evening students and mid-August for Weekend students. Finals are tentatively scheduled for the week of December 12 for Evening students and mid-December for Weekend students.

Fall Elective Opportunity

Based on student feedback, the Class of 2019 will be allowed to take electives in the fall semester of their second year. This option can help students more evenly distribute units across semesters, prepare for career transitions or apply elective concepts in their current jobs. We are still working through the details but the following principles will guide this initiative:

  1. Students taking electives will need to have demonstrated sufficient academic success by achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or higher in core courses to ensure their ability to take on the extra elective workload.

  2. Students will only be allowed to sign up for electives in the areas of Accounting/Finance, Leadership/Management and Marketing, since you will have completed the key core courses in these areas.

  3. Third year students will get priority in access to electives.

  4. Total units, including those allocated to required core courses, cannot exceed 9.

Final details will be shared during the upcoming small group advising sessions.

Good luck with finals!

-Amanda & the EWMBA Program Office
